Ventura Film Festival Presenting Worldwide Movies to The Region

The Ventura Film Festival is celebrated as "the biggest cinematic celebration ever hosted in Ventura County." This prestigious recognition underscores the organization's dedication to delivering exceptional cinematic experiences to the area while continuing its mission toward critical environmental causes.

The Ventura Film Festival operates as a multi-genre global film festival that builds consciousness about environmental issues such as forest and ocean preservation and restoration, through a yearly film festival and related events. The festival utilizes the power of cinema to stimulate involvement and foster important conversations about these pressing environmental challenges.

The Ventura Film Festival was established in 2004 and has showcased numerous films, regularly over 200 films during summer months, and has garnered interest from the international cinematic community. From its beginning, the festival has transformed into a prominent cultural occasion that brings together movie directors, ecological activists, and attendees from diverse international locations.

Some of the highlights have been welcoming acclaimed filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the original world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend as well as Ian Cairns, 4 time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA fighter Fabio Leopoldo, and the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story, which included hosting the complete Oscar-winning ensemble of West Side Story, featuring Oscar winner/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris and Golden Globe winner/Oscar-nominated Russ Tamblyn. The founding executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was invited to join, along with several of Hollywood's premier talents, in the 50th Anniversary tribute of West Side Story and Hollywood's footprint/handprint ceremony for Oscar winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe award winner Russ Tamblyn at the historic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay premiere by Fox and MGM of the iconic West Side Story, which is widely considered by critics and fans to be the best musical of all time.
